Mental health – a global issue
Mental health has become a top priority for world health organizations. The importance of mental health is evident in the way that it is mentioned in global goals and targets, as well as the efforts being made to promote it. Mental health is an important part of overall well-being, and its promotion can have a positive impact on people's lives. Worldwide, there are many challenges facing people with mental health issues, including discrimination and social isolation. However, concerted efforts are being made to address these issues.

When you are pursuing your valued life goals you can feel you are accomplishing important and meaningful things.
One way that values protect your emotional health is when you are faced with inner conflict – for instance, think about a time you forgot to do your homework. Did you make up a lie to explain why it wasn’t done, or did you just own up to your forgetfulness?
For most people, dealing with distressing experiences, such as anxiety, depression, and memories of sexual abuse, takes a lot of our energy. At times it might feel like it takes all you’ve got just to stay afloat, leaving not much left over for anything else. In order to get ourselves in a better place to deal with these difficulties, and life’s problems in general, it is worth putting some time and energy into identifying and living by your values; that is, what you stand for as a person.
